History and Research
Longevity Mountain stays away from the practice
of medicine completely. We do not diagnose,
treat or cure any diseases. However, we do work
with the physical body’s optimal ability
to harmonize and heal itself. Longevity Mountain
has developed specific herbal formulas that
focus on related problem areas of the body.
We recognize that if an ailing body is re-rooted
in a healthy environment and lifestyle then
the benefits received from our herbal formulas
are optimized. This, in turn, results in the
body’s improvement of immune function,
digestion, elimination, respiration, circulation
and neural function. Therefore, we provide holistic
education throughout our website to enhance
the likelihood of our customer’s health.
Why Longevity
Mountain?
Longevity Mountain has invested considerable
time to develop the best quality herbal formulas
for our customers and their lifestyles. We
live in a high speed, high demand environment
which has resulted in a high stress society.
Our dedication to creating convenient living
conditions has reduced physical activity.
People eat more meat, butter and fried food
with enriched man-made chemicals. We use air
conditioning to make our buildings more livable
and workable while blocking access to the
universe’s natural energy. People, who
are sensitive to the natural effects of these
changes are looking for healthy alternatives.
The natural energy derived from focused herbal
formulations is very effective for improving
human health. Extensive research has been
conducted by the Chinese herb manufacturers
and the University of Chinese Traditional
Herbal Medicine, in China. In 1992, emphasis
was placed on the physical problems that face
Americans. The reason for conducting numerous
studies was to ensure that the herbal formulations
would be relevant and of the finest quality.
Two important commitments we ascribed to:
- Product safety
- Clearer description of the health benefits
Part of the emerging agenda included sharing
the closely held secrets of the master
herbalists. The door was opened, revealing
the master formulas and its specific herbal
contents. In addition, the manufacturers
agreed to share their method of herbal
manufacturing. After 15 years of research,
March 8, 2001, Chinese practitioners, carefully
and responsibly began sharing their wealth
of experience with American healthcare
professionals, presenting their best herbal
products.
Chinese herbal have
already helped billions of people for many
centuries
Our Formulas:
Chinese herb formulation and manufacturing is not as simple as mixing
a salad. There is a profound logic behind the structure of the master
formulas. Similar to a nutritious meal which has to smell good, look
good, taste good and be properly cooked, the Chinese herb formulas
have to obey the Empire, Minister, General and Ambassador Rule. Otherwise,
even nourishing Chinese herbs are unable to be productively assimilated
and fully utilized by our body. The herbs wake up our digestive system
to accept them and direct them to be apart of our body. The human
body is a living organism which can only be supported by metabolic
reactions working to maintain balance. Chinese medicine calls this,
the universal principle of Ying and Yang balance (homeostasis). Without
this balance, the best nutrition will only pass through our body
without a healthy contribution to us. In fact, the unconscious choice
of food items may contribute to our imbalance. In a similar fashion,
the herbal choices we make without regard to these tenets will eventually
foster more physical complications. Doing no harm and helping the
body maintain balance utilizing proven herbal formulas are the standards
of the
conscious and trained herbal practitioner/manufacturer. For four thousand years, Chinese herbalists
have researched, studied, and remain committed to serving this purpose.
Emperor, Minister,
General, and Ambassador Rule:
Within traditional Chinese herbology,
the ancient practitioners devised a system
for ensuring a quality herbal formulation.
The historical guideline was structured
in this manner:
- The principal herb, which produces the leading action, is called the "Emperor".
- The herb that helps to strengthen the action of the principle herb is called the "Minister".
- The herb(s) that helps the Minister
to heal the accompanying symptoms
or combat the toxin of herbs is called
the "General".
- The herb that directs the action of a formula or tempers the action of other herbs is called the "Ambassador".

If you ingest herbs outside this methodology
then you may have problems that are typically
seen on the news where an athlete, a doctor’s
patient, etc. has physical complications due
to over usage of a single herb like Mahuang
extract (ephedra) or Gingko Biloba, respectively.
Now they are advertising Green Tea extract
as a supplement for losing weight. Its just
a matter of time before this becomes a problem.
Before administering these herbs, its very
important to know what the herbs do, how to
construct them in a beneficial formula and
to know who you are giving them to. To make
sure a formula is balanced, safe and effective,
one has to know and obey the herb formulation
guidelines in order to create the correct
herb formula.
Combats
the toxin of the herbals:
Today, more people appreciate the healing
power of herbal supplements. Enthusiasm is
picking up as people discover the benefits.
There are some people, even herbalists, who
believe all herbal supplements should be naturally
fresh without being heated or dried. But if
you think it over, you may realize some herbs
in a herbal supplement should be treated correctly
in order to combat the toxin. For example,
would you eat a fresh green banana, without
putting it in certain temperatures until it
changed to be yellow? Don’t we usually
eat cooked corn to give it a sweeter taste
and assist our digestion? Some vegetables
can be eaten fresh in a salad while others
should be cooked to "combat the toxin". Successful
recipes are not only "delicious", but also
scientific. Successful herbal supplements
require superior construction. Our herbal
supplements maintain a balance between Ying
and Yang energy to combat the toxin.
More About Chinese
Herbalism
Herbal Formulas have been the chief agents
of Chinese Medicine for over 4000 years. In
its primary theory, the human and the natural
world are considered an inseparable whole.
Knowing how to work with Yin Yang, Meridians
or channels, differentiation, etc., are considered
essential to sustain the balance of the whole
body. An herbal practitioner assists the body
to unblock the circulation of energy thus
supporting a natural healing. The stasis,
excess or deficiency of energy will finally
make the body vulnerable to “evils”
or external invasions. For example: Evil heat
is very similar to infection. The English
word of Medicine transferred to China in the
late 16th Century, without the knowledge of
modern chemistry. The Chinese used the word
"Chinese Medicine" and "Chinese Drug" as a
way to translate or help the English speaking
understand their healing methodology before
there was a FDA regulation outlawing the use
of Chinese/American medical terminology.
Chinese medicine is still used in most of
European countries and recognized as a viable
contribution to the health arts and practice.
Again, the term was coined to help English
and Chinese speaking medical practitioners
understand, bridge and assist in the exchange
of information. The goal was to never replace
one another’s art but to share between
methodologies. Accurately, Chinese medicine
is not a chemistry form of medicine. Herbs
are not drugs but food.
Two thousand years ago, Dr. Hauto, the most
respected doctor of Chinese medical history
declared that, " Herb is food, food is medicine".
At that time, the English term of medicine
did not exist yet. Language, sometimes, can
cause problems. This is especially true when
you are still learning a foreign language.
The current situation is a challenging paradox
for American Chinese herbologists who have
to live under the standards of traditional
American medical doctors while in the U.S.A.
Whereas, in China, both traditional medical
arts from America and China are respected,
equally. In the U.S., its OK or legal for
Chinese acupuncturists and herbologists to
say, “Chinese Medicine heals the body,
but herbs are not medicine”. This is
difficult to understand when the Chinese practice
of medicine has existed 4000+ years as compared
to the 200 year practice of American traditional
medicine.
